Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 81: Vasiṣṭha Summons Bharata
Text 2.81.3

स तूर्यघोषः सुमहान्दिवमापूरयन्निव।
भरतं शोकसंतप्तं भूयः शोकैररन्ध्रयत्॥

sa tūrya-ghoṣaḥ sumahān divam āpūrayann iva
bharataṁ śoka-santaptaṁ bhūyaḥ śokair arandhrayat

saḥ = that; tūrya-ghoṣaḥ = musical sound; sumahān = very loud; divam = the heavens; āpūrayan = fill up; iva = seemed to; bharatam = Bharata; śoka-santaptam = who was burning in distress; bhūyaḥ śokaiḥ = with even more distress; arandhrayat = and shattered.

That very loud musical sound seemed to fill up the heavens and shattered Bharata, who was burning in distress, with even more distress.

In some manuscripts arandhayat appears instead of arandhrayat indicating that [the sound] burnt [Bharata’s mind].
