Chapter 81: Vasiṣṭha Summons Bharata
Text 2.81.5
पश्य शत्रुघ्न कैकेय्या लोकस्यापकृतं महत्।
विसृज्य मयि दुःखानि राजा दशरथो गतः॥
paśya śatrughna kaikeyyā lokasyāpakṛtaṁ mahat
visṛjya mayi duḥkhāni rājā daśaratho gataḥ
paśya = look at; śatrughna = Śatrughna; kaikeyyā = because of Queen Kaikeyī; lokasya = of these people; apakṛtam mahat = this inappropriate action; visṛjya mayi = has given Me and; duḥkhāni = this misery [to deal with]; rājā = King; daśarathaḥ = Daśaratha; gataḥ = and left [this world].
Śatrughna, look at this inappropriate action of these people because of Queen Kaikeyī. [And] King Daśaratha has given Me this misery [to deal with] and left [this world].
Kaikeyyā lokasyāpakṛtaṁ mahat also indicates that Kaikeyī had greatly harmed the people. How? That is explained in the second half of the verse.
