Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 83: Bharata Reaches Śṛṅgiberapura
Text 2.83.7

प्रयाताश्चार्यसंघाता रामं द्रष्टुं सलक्ष्मणम्।
तस्यैव च कथाश्चित्राः कुर्वाणा हृष्टमानसाः॥

prayātāś cārya-saṅghātā rāmaṁ draṣṭuṁ salakṣmaṇam
tasyaiva ca kathāś citrāḥ kurvāṇā hṛṣṭa-mānasāḥ

prayātāḥ ca = departed; ārya-saṅghātāḥ = a multitude of noble personages; rāmam = Rāma; draṣṭum = to see; salakṣmaṇam = with Lakṣmaṇa; tasya eva ca = Rāma alone; kathāḥ = discussions; citrāḥ = their excellent; kurvāṇāḥ = were; hṛṣṭa-mānasāḥ = and their minds were delighted.

A multitude of noble personages departed to see Rāma with Lakṣmaṇa. Their excellent discussions were about Rāma alone and their minds were delighted.

Ārya-saṅghātāḥ (“a multitude of noble personages”) indicates that these were members of the higher three varṇas.

Their talks are described in the next [two verses].
