Chapter 86: Guha Relates Rāma’s Pastimes on the Bank of Gaṅgā
Text 2.86.2

तं जाग्रतं गुणैर्युक्तं शरचापासिधारिणम्।
भ्रातृगुप्त्यर्थमत्यन्तमहं लक्ष्मणमब्रवम्॥

taṁ jāgrataṁ guṇair yuktaṁ śara-cāpāsidhāriṇam
bhrātṛ-gupty-artham atyantam ahaṁ lakṣmaṇam abravam

tam = to that; jāgratam = was awake; guṇaiḥ yuktam = possessor of auspicious qualities [as follows]; śara-cāpa-asidhāriṇam = holding arrows, bow and a sword; bhrātṛ-gupti-artham = to protect His brother; atyantam = fully; aham = I; lakṣmaṇam = Lakṣmaṇa; abravam = spoke.

Lakṣmaṇa was fully awake, holding arrows, bow and a sword to protect His brother. I spoke to that possessor of auspicious qualities [as follows].

Lakṣmaṇa held a bow and arrows with one hand and a sword with another hand. He possessed auspicious qualities such as respectful devotion to His brother.
