Chapter 86: Guha Relates Rāma’s Pastimes on the Bank of Gaṅgā
Text 2.86.4
उचितोऽयं जनः सर्वो दुःखानां त्वं सुखोचितः।
धर्मात्मंस्तस्य गुप्त्यर्थं जागरिष्यामहे वयम्॥
ucito ’yaṁ janaḥ sarvo duḥkhānāṁ tvaṁ sukhocitaḥ
dharmātmaṁs tasya gupty-arthaṁ jāgariṣyāmahe vayam
ucitaḥ = are used; ayam = these; janaḥ = people here; sarvaḥ = all; duḥkhānām = to difficulties [whereas]; tvam = You; sukha-ucitaḥ = are used to comfort; dharma-ātman = O Lakṣmaṇa of a dhārmika mind; tasya gupti-artham = to protect Rāma; jāgariṣyāmahe = will stay awake; vayam = we.
All these people here are used to difficulties [whereas] You are used to comfort. O Lakṣmaṇa of a dhārmika mind, we will stay awake to protect Rāma.
