तच्छ्रुत्वा निपुणं सर्वं भरतः सह मनत्रिभिः।
इङ्गुदीमूलमागम्य रामशय्यामवेक्ष्य ताम्॥
अब्रवीज्जननीः सर्वा इह तेन महात्मना।
शर्वरी शयिता भूमाविदमस्य विमर्दितम्॥
tac chrutvā nipuṇaṁ sarvaṁ bharataḥ saha mantribhiḥ
iṅgudī-mūlam āgamya rāma-śayyām avekṣya tām
abravīj jananīḥ sarvā iha tena mahātmanā
śarvarī śayitā bhūmāv idam asya vimarditam
tat = of this; śrutvā = having heard; nipuṇam = attentively; sarvam = all; bharataḥ = Bharata; saha mantribhiḥ = with His ministers; iṅgudī-mūlam = the base of the iṅgudī tree; āgamya = reached; rāma-śayyām = Rāma’s bed; avekṣya = and saw; tām1 abravīt = He then told; jananīḥ sarvāḥ = all His mothers; iha = here; tena = that; mahā-ātmanā = great soul Rāma; śarvarī = for the night; śayitā = slept; bhūmau = [on this spot] on the ground; idam = this; asya = His; vimarditam = was bed.
Having attentively heard all of this, Bharata reached the base of the iṅgudī tree with His ministers and saw Rāma’s bed. He then told all His mothers: “That great soul Rāma slept [on this spot] on the ground for the night. This was His bed.1
