Chapter 88: Bharata Laments About Rāma’s Predicament
Text 2.88.3
महाभागकुलीनेन महाभागेन धीमता।
जातो दशरथेनोर्व्यां न रामः स्वप्तुमर्हति॥
mahā-bhāga-kulīnena mahā-bhāgena dhīmatā
jāto daśarathenorvyāṁ na rāmaḥ svaptum arhati
mahā-bhāga-kulīnena = was from a noble family of greatly opulent persons; mahā-bhāgena = he was greatly experienced; dhīmatā = and intelligent; jātaḥ = born from him; daśarathena = King Daśaratha; urvyām = on the ground; na = does not; rāmaḥ = Rāma; svaptum = to sleep; arhati = deserve.
“King Daśaratha was from a noble family of greatly opulent persons. He was greatly experienced and intelligent. Rāma, born from him does not deserve to sleep on the ground!
