Chapter 89: Bharata Crosses Gaṅgā and Reaches Prayāga

नारीणामभिपूर्णास्तु काश्चित्काश्चिच्च वाजिनाम्।
काश्चिदत्र वहन्ति स्म यानयुग्यं महाधनम्॥
nārīṇām abhipūrṇās tu kāścit kāścic ca vājinām
kāścid atra vahanti sma yāna-yugyaṁ mahā-dhanam
nārīṇām = with women; abhipūrṇāḥ tu = were filled; kāścit = some boats; kāścit = some; ca = and; vājinām = with horses; kāścit = some; atra vahanti sma = carried; yāna-yugyam = draught animals; mahā-dhanam = and several valuables 3.
Some boats were filled with women and some with horses. Some carried draught animals and several valuables.
The horses were needed to get things down [from the boats]. “Draught animals” refers to mules, bulls and other animals that pulled carts and so on.
