Chapter 89: Bharata Crosses Gaṅgā and Reaches Prayāga
Text 2.89.19

नावश्चारुरुहुश्चान्ये प्लवैस्तेरुस्तथा परे।
अन्ये कुम्भघटैस्तेरुरन्ये तेरुश्च बाहुभिः॥

nāvaś cāruruhuś cānye plavais terus tathā pare
anye kumbha-ghaṭais terur anye teruś ca bāhubhiḥ

nāvaḥ ca = small boats; āruruhuḥ ca = boarded; anye = among the rest some; plavaiḥ = on rafts; teruḥ = crossed [the river]; tathā = and; pare = some; anye = some; kumbha-ghaṭaiḥ = on large pots; teruḥ = crossed; anye = others; teruḥ ca = crossed; bāhubhiḥ = by swimming.

Among the rest, some boarded small boats, some crossed [the river] on rafts, some crossed on large pots and others crossed by swimming.1

The rafts were made of grass and wood.
