Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 91: Bharadvāja’s Hospitality to Bharata, His Army and Family
Text 2.91.38

आसनं पूजयामास रामायाभिप्रणम्य च।
वालव्यजनमादाय न्यषीदत्सचिवासने॥

āsanaṁ pūjayām āsa rāmāyābhipraṇamya ca
vāla-vyajanam ādāya nyaṣīdat sacivāsane

āsanam = that throne; pūjayām āsa = worshipped; rāmāya = unto Rāma; abhipraṇamya = He offered His respectful obeisances; ca = and; vāla-vyajanam = a cāmara fan; ādāya = taking up; nyaṣīdat = sat; saciva-āsane = on a royal chair made for a secretary.

He offered His respectful obeisances unto Rāma, worshipped that throne, taking up a cāmara fan, and sat on a royal chair made for a secretary.

He worshipped that throne considering that Rāma was on the throne. He took up a cāmara fan in line with His own nature as a dependent servant [of Rāma]. The secretary’s royal chair was below [and near] the king’s siṁhāsana.
