Chapter 92: Bharata Departs for Citrakūṭa
Text 2.92.9
इति पृष्टस्तु भरतं भ्रातृदर्शनलालसम्।
प्रत्युवाच महातेजा भरद्वाजो महातपाः॥
iti pṛṣṭas tu bharataṁ bhrātṛ-darśana-lālasam
pratyuvāca mahā-tejā bharadvājo mahā-tapāḥ
iti pṛṣṭaḥ tu = was thus questioned; bharatam = to Bharata; bhrātṛ-darśana-lālasam = who was eager to see His brother; pratyuvāca = he replied as follows; mahā-tejāḥ = and therefore of great prowess; bharadvājaḥ = when Bharadvāja; mahā-tapāḥ = of great austerity.
When Bharadvāja of great austerity and therefore of great prowess was questioned thus, he replied to Bharata who was eager to see His brother as follows.
Mahā-tejāḥ indicates that the sage was capable of getting to know anything. Though Guha’s relatives were well acquainted with the area where Rāma’s āśrama was, Bharata asked the sage about it to honor Him.
