Chapter 92: Bharata Departs for Citrakūṭa
Text 2.92.23
एतस्यास्तु सुतौ देव्याः कुमारौ देववर्णिनौ।
उभौ लक्ष्मणशत्रुघ्नौ वीरौ सत्यपराक्रमौ॥
etasyās tu sutau devyāḥ kumārau deva-varṇinau
ubhau lakṣmaṇa-śatrughnau vīrau satya-parākramau
etasyāḥ tu = of this; sutau = sons; devyāḥ = queen; kumārau = young; deva-varṇinau = who resemble the Aśvinī-kumāras; ubhau = the two; lakṣmaṇa-śatrughnau = are Lakṣmaṇa and Śatrughna; vīrau = heroic; satya-parākramau = and who are truly filled with valor.
The two young heroic sons of this queen who resemble the Aśvinī-kumāras and who are truly filled with valor are Lakṣmaṇa and Śatrughna.
GLOSS. Deva-varṇinau indicates that Lakṣmaṇa and Śatrughna have the appearance of the devas and that the devas describe and glorify Them.
