Chapter 94: Rāma Describes the Excellence of Citrakūṭa to Sītā
Text 2.94.18
वैदेहि रमसे कच्चिच्चित्रकूटे मया सह।
पश्यन्ती विविधान्भावान्मनोवाक्कायसंयतान्॥
vaidehi ramase kaccic citrakūṭe mayā saha
paśyantī vividhān bhāvān mano-vāk-kāya-saṁyatān
vaidehi = Vaidehī; ramase = happy; kaccit = are you; citrakūṭe = in Citrakūṭa; mayā saha = with Me; paśyantī = by observing; vividhān = the various; bhāvān = activities of the kinnaras, deer and so on 3; manaḥ-vāk-kāya-saṁyatān = that captivate the mind, speech and body.
Vaidehī, are you happy with Me by observing the various activities of the kinnaras, deer and so on in Citrakūṭa that captivate the mind, speech and body?
Having expressed His happiness, He now asks her about her happiness. [“Are you happy with Me?” means] “Did you notice that I have made you predominant in this stream of enjoyment?”
In some manuscripts, mano-vāk-kāya-saṁyatā appears instead of mano-vāk-kāya-saṁyatān indicating that Sītā-devī’s mind, speech and body were regulated.
Vividhān bhāvān also indicates that several features of the mountain and the forest such as the cool wind, the cooing of the kokila, the buzzing of the bees and the flower gardens excited [Rāmacandra].
