Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 95: Rāma Describes Mandākinī’s Beauty to Sītā
Text 2.95.12

दर्शनं चित्रकूटस्य मन्दाकिन्याश्च शोभने।
अधिकं पुरवासाच्च मन्ये च तव दर्शनात्॥

darśanaṁ citrakūṭasya mandākinyāś ca śobhane
adhikaṁ pura-vāsāc ca manye ca tava darśanāt

darśanam = the sight; citrakūṭasya = of Citrakūṭa; mandākinyāḥ = Mandākinī; ca = and; śobhane = auspicious lady; adhikam = is superior to; pura-vāsāt ca = residing in the city of Ayodhyā; manye ca = I think that; tava darśanāt = by seeing you.

Auspicious lady, by seeing you I think that the sight of Citrakūṭa and Mandākinī is superior to residing in the city of Ayodhyā.1

Residence in Citrakūṭa pleased Rāma more than residence in Ayodhyā as it was a secluded place for His pastimes.

1 Rāmāyaṇa-bhāva-dīpa: tava darśanān nimittāt.
