Chapter 95: Rāma Describes Mandākinī’s Beauty to Sītā
Text 2.95.11
तांश्चातिवल्गुवचसो रथाङ्गाह्वयना द्विजाः।
अधिरोहन्ति कल्याणि विकूजन्तः शुभा गिरः॥
tāṁś cātivalgu-vacaso rathāṅgāhvayanā dvijāḥ
adhirohanti kalyāṇi vikūjantaḥ śubhā giraḥ
tān ca = on those flowers; ativalgu-vacasaḥ = the sweet-voiced; rathāṅga-āhvayanāḥ = named Cakravāka; dvijāḥ = birds; adhirohanti = lie; kalyāṇi = auspicious lady; vikūjantaḥ = while uttering; śubhāḥ = beautiful; giraḥ = tones.
Auspicious lady, the sweet-voiced birds named Cakravāka lie on those flowers while uttering beautiful tones.
The Cakravākas were sweet-voiced, that is, they utter sweet sounds at the time of calling [their mates] for mating. They cooed in beautiful tones at the time of mating.
This verse shows that the Cakravākas were happy [with Mandākinī].
