Chapter 97: Rāma Instructs Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.97.14
विप्रियं कृतपूर्वं ते भरतेन कदा नु किम्।
ईदृशं वा भयं तेऽद्य भरतं योऽत्र शङ्कसे॥
vipriyaṁ kṛta-pūrvaṁ te bharatena kadā nu kim
īdṛśaṁ vā bhayaṁ te ’dya bharataṁ yo ’tra śaṅkase
vipriyam = anything displeasing; kṛta-pūrvam = done in the past; te = to You; bharatena = Bharata; kadā nu = ever; kim = has; īdṛśam = as You allege; vā = or; bhayam = spoken anything frightening; te = to You; adya = today; bharatam = about Bharata; yaḥ = that You; atra = in this situation; śaṅkase = harbor suspicions.
Has Bharata ever done anything displeasing to You in the past? Or has He spoken anything frightening to You as You allege that You harbor suspicions about Bharata today in this situation?
