Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 97: Rāma Instructs Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.97.22

अथवा नौ ध्रुवं मन्ये मन्यमानः सुखोचितौ।
वनवासमनुध्याय गृहाय प्रतिनेष्यति॥

atha vā nau dhruvaṁ manye manyamānaḥ sukhocitau
vana-vāsam anudhyāya gṛhāya pratineṣyati

atha vā = or else; nau = us; dhruvam = to be accustomed; manye = I think; manyamānaḥ = considering; sukha-ucitau = to a comfortable life; vana-vāsam anudhyāya = worrying about the difficulties of residence in the forest; gṛhāya pratineṣyati = that He will certainly [want to] take us back to Our home.

“Or else, considering us to be accustomed to a comfortable life and worrying about the difficulties of residence in the forest, I think that He will certainly [want to] take us back to Our home.

Nau (literally “the two of us”) indicates that Bharata was primarily [thinking about Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa].
