Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 98: Bharata Locates Rāma’s Āśrama
Text 2.98.16

स गिरेश्चित्रकूटस्य सालमासाद्य पुष्पितम्।
रामाश्रमगतस्याग्नेर्ददर्श ध्वजमुच्छ्रितम्॥

sa gireś citrakūṭasya sālam āsādya puṣpitam
rāmāśrama-gatasyāgner dadarśa dhvajam ucchritam

saḥ = He; gireḥ = mountain; citrakūṭasya = on Citrakūṭa; sālam = Sāla tree; āsādya = having reached; puṣpitam = a flowering; rāma-āśrama-gatasya = in Rāma’s āśrama; agneḥ = [coming] from the fire; dadarśa = saw; dhvajam ucchritam = a tall column of smoke.

Having reached a flowering Sāla tree on Citrakūṭa mountain, He clearly saw a tall column of smoke [coming] from the fire in Rāma’s āśrama.

Previously Bharata saw the top of the column of smoke. Now He saw the source of that smoke because He was near it. Therefore there is no redundancy [in this description here].

GLOSS. Previously Bharata heard from His spies, but now He [personally] saw [the column of smoke]. So there is no redundancy here.
