Chapter 98: Bharata Locates Rāma’s Āśrama
Text 2.98.17
तं दृष्ट्वा भरतः श्रीमान्मुमोह सहबान्धवः।
अत्र राम इति ज्ञात्वा गतः पारमिवाम्भसः॥
taṁ dṛṣṭvā bharataḥ śrīmān mumoha saha-bāndhavaḥ
atra rāma iti jñātvā gataḥ pāram ivāmbhasaḥ
tam = it; dṛṣṭvā = upon seeing; bharataḥ = Bharata; śrīmān = the handsome; mumoha = and became overwhelmed as if in delusion; saha-bāndhavaḥ = and His relatives; atra rāmaḥ iti = that Rāma was there; jñātvā = understood; gataḥ pāram = they had reached the other shore; iva = as if; ambhasaḥ = of the waters of an ocean.
Upon seeing it, the handsome Bharata and His relatives understood that Rāma was there and became overwhelmed as if in delusion, as if they had reached the other shore of the waters of an ocean.
In some manuscripts, mumoda appears instead of mumoha indicating that Bharata and His relatives rejoiced when they understood that Rāma was there.
