Chapter 100: Rāma Instructs Bharata About the Duties of a King

कच्चिद्व्यपास्तानहितान्प्रतियातांश्च सर्वदा।
दुर्बलाननवज्ञाय वर्तसे रिपुसूदन॥
kaccid vyapāstān ahitān pratiyātāṁś ca sarvadā
durbalān anavajñāya vartase ripu-sūdana
kaccit = I hope; vyapāstān = exiled; ahitān = enemies; pratiyātān = who have returned; ca = and; sarvadā = all the time; durbalān = as being weak; anavajñāya vartase = You don’t disregard; ripu-sūdana = O killer of Your enemies.
O killer of Your enemies, I hope You don’t disregard exiled enemies who have returned as being weak all the time.
1 Such a person would not have returned in the first place unless he has established firm local support for himself.
Śrī Rāmacandra implies here that [such] a return cannot take place without support; considering this one should be cautious about them.1
