Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 104: Bharata Beseeches Rāma to Rule the Kingdom
Text 2.104.4
इत्युक्तः कैकयीपुत्रः काकुत्स्थेन महात्मना।
प्रगृह्य बलवद्भूयः प्राञ्जलिर्वाक्यमब्रवीत्॥
ity uktaḥ kaikayī-putraḥ kākutsthena mahātmanā
pragṛhya balavad bhūyaḥ prāñjalir vākyam abravīt
iti uktaḥ = said this; kaikayī-putraḥ = Kaikeyī’s son; kākutsthena = descendant of Kakutstha; mahātmanā = the great-souled; pragṛhya = grasped Him; balavat = forcefully; bhūyaḥ = and again; prāñjaliḥ = joined His palms in supplications; vākyam = the following words; abravīt = and spoke.
When the great-souled descendant of Kakutstha grasped Him forcefully and again said this, Kaikeyī’s son joined His palms in supplication and spoke the following words.
“Grasped Him forcefully and again said this” indicates that Rāma firmly embraced Bharata and again told Him, “Tell Me everything.”
