Chapter 107: Rāma Explains why the King Gave the Kingdom to Kaikeyī

दैवासुरे च संग्रामे जनन्यै तव पार्थिवः।
संप्रहृष्टो ददौ राजा वरमाराधितः प्रभुः॥
daivāsure ca saṅgrāme jananyai tava pārthivaḥ
saṁprahṛṣṭo dadau rājā varam ārādhitaḥ prabhuḥ
daiva-āsure ca = between the devas and asuras; saṅgrāme = during the battle; jananyai = to mother; tava = Your; pārthivaḥ = and ruler of the earth; saṁprahṛṣṭaḥ = delightfully; dadau = bestowed; rājā = the king; varam = two boons; ārādhitaḥ = when he was honored [by her]; prabhuḥ = capable.
During the battle between the devas and asuras, the king and capable ruler of the earth delightfully bestowed two boons to Your mother when he was honored [by her].1
1 She honored him by nursing him when he was wounded.
