Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 107: Rāma Explains why the King Gave the Kingdom to Kaikeyī
Text 2.107.10

ऋणान्मोचय राजानं मत्कृते भरत प्रभुम्।
पितरं चापि धर्मज्ञं मातरं चाभिनन्दय॥

ṛṇān mocaya rājānaṁ mat-kṛte bharata prabhum
pitaraṁ cāpi dharmajñaṁ mātaraṁ cābhinandaya

ṛṇāt = from his debts; mocaya = deliver; rājānam = the king; mat-kṛte = for My sake; bharata = Bharata; prabhum = he was Our lord; pitaram = father; ca api = and; dharmajñam = he knew dharma; mātaram = Your mother; ca = and; abhinandaya = make happy too.

Bharata, for My sake deliver the king from his debts. He was Our lord and father, and he knew dharma. Make Your mother happy too.

Bharata should deliver the king from his debts to Kaikeyī by coronating Himself.

From the next verse, Rāma presented evidence that Bharata should certainly do what Rāma has said.
