त्वं राजा भरत भव स्वयं नराणां वन्यानामहमपि राजराण्मृगाणाम्।
गच्छ त्वं पुरवरमद्य संप्रहृष्टः संहृष्टस्त्वहमपि दण्डकान्प्रवेक्ष्ये॥
tvaṁ rājā bharata bhava svayaṁ narāṇāṁ
vanyānām aham api rājarāṇ mṛgāṇām
gaccha tvaṁ pura-varam adya saṁprahṛṣṭaḥ
saṁhṛṣṭas tv aham api daṇḍakān pravekṣye
tvam1 rājā = the king; bharata = Bharata; bhava svayam = become; narāṇām = of men; vanyānām = in the forest; aham api = and I will become; rājarāṭ = a pleasing taskmaster; mṛgāṇām = of the animals; gaccha tvam = go; pura-varam = to that excellent city; adya = now; saṁprahṛṣṭaḥ = in full happiness; saṁhṛṣṭaḥ tu = in full joy; aham api = and I will; daṇḍakān = the Daṇḍaka forests; pravekṣye = enter.
Bharata, become the king of men and I will become a pleasing taskmaster of the animals in the forest. Go to that excellent city now in full happiness and I will enter the Daṇḍaka forests in full joy.

Rāma has thus laid down the seed of His plot: He will please Sugrīva, kill Vālī and so on.
NOTE. Here Lord Rāma demonstrates that one should be equipoised in carrying out his scriptural duties. The Lord has noted this mode of behavior in Bhagavad-gītā (2.48) thus:
yoga-sthaḥ kuru karmāṇi saṅgaṁ tyaktvā dhanañ-jaya
siddhy-asiddhyoḥ samo bhūtvā samatvaṁ yoga ucyate
“Perform your duty equipoised, O Arjuna, abandoning all attachment to success or failure. Such equanimity is called yoga.”
