स तामभ्यवदद्विप्रो वरेप्सुं पुत्रजन्मनि।
पुत्रस्ते भविता देवि महात्मा लोकविश्रुतः।
धार्मिकश्च सुशीलश्च वंशकर्तारिसूदनः॥
sa tām abhyavadad vipro varepsuṁ putra-janmani
putras te bhavitā devi mahātmā loka-viśrutaḥ
dhārmikaś ca suśīlaś ca vaṁśa-kartāri-sūdanaḥ
saḥ = and the; tām = to her; abhyavadat = spoke; vipraḥ = sage; vara-īpsum = she desired that a good son be born without any difficulty; putra-janmani = about the [future] birth of her son; putraḥ = a son; te = you; bhavitā = will have; devi = O queen; mahā-ātmā = he will be greatly intelligent; loka-viśrutaḥ = famous throughout the world; dhārmikaḥ ca = dhārmika; suśīlaḥ ca = of good character; vaṁśa-kartā-ari-sūdanaḥ = a progenitor of his dynasty and the killer of his enemies.
“She desired that a good son be born without any difficulty and the sage spoke to her about the [future] birth of her son: ‘O queen, you will have a son. He will be greatly intelligent, famous throughout the world, dhārmika, of good character, a progenitor of his dynasty and the killer of his enemies.’
