Chapter 113: Bharata Returns to Ayodhyā
Text 2.113.19
ततः प्रदक्षिणं कृत्वा भरद्वाजं पुनःपुनः।
भरतस्तु ययौ श्रीमानयोध्यां सह मन्त्रिभिः॥
tataḥ pradakṣiṇaṁ kṛtvā bharadvājaṁ punaḥ punaḥ
bharatas tu yayau śrīmān ayodhyāṁ saha mantribhiḥ
tataḥ = after being permitted to depart; pradakṣiṇam kṛtvā = circumambulated; bharadvājam = Bharadvāja; punaḥ punaḥ = repeatedly; bharataḥ tu = Bharata; yayau = and departed; śrīmān = handsome; ayodhyām = to Ayodhyā; saha mantribhiḥ = with His ministers.
After being permitted to depart, handsome Bharata repeatedly circumambulated Bharadvāja and departed to Ayodhyā with His ministers.
Some authorities say that just as one should not offer obeisances with one hand, one should not circumambulate [a worshipable person] only once and that Bharata therefore circumambulated Bharadvāja repeatedly.
