Chapter 119: Rāma Departs to Daṇḍakāraṇya
Text 2.119.3

रविरस्तंगतः श्रीमानुपोह्य रजनीं शिवाम्॥
दिवसं परिकीर्णानामाहारार्थं पतत्रिणाम्॥
सन्ध्याकाले निलीनानां निद्रार्थं श्रूयते ध्वनिः॥३॥

ravir astaṁ gataḥ śrīmān upohya rajanīṁ śivām
divasaṁ parikīrṇānām āhārārthaṁ patatriṇām
sandhyā-kāle nilīnānāṁ nidrārthaṁ śrūyate dhvaniḥ

raviḥ = the sun; astam gataḥ = is setting; śrīmān = brilliant; upohya = bringing in; rajanīm = the night; śivām = auspicious; divasam = during the day; parikīrṇānām = they had gone all around; āhāra-artham = for food; patatriṇām = of the birds; sandhyā-kāle = [now] at dusk; nilīnānām = and are now resting; nidrā-artham = to go to sleep; śrūyate = can be heard; dhvaniḥ = the sound of the birds.

The brilliant sun is setting, bringing in the auspicious night. The sound of the birds can be heard [now] at dusk. They had gone all around for food during the day and are now resting to go to sleep.
