Chapter 119: Rāma Departs to Daṇḍakāraṇya
Text 2.119.17
तावूचुस्ते वनचरास्तापसा धर्मचारिणः॥
वनस्य तस्य संचारं राक्षसैः समभिप्लुतम्॥१७॥
tāv ūcus te vanacarās tāpasā dharmacāriṇaḥ
vanasya tasya sañcāraṁ rākṣasaiḥ samabhiplutam
tāu = Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa; ūcuḥ = told; te = the; vanacarāḥ = residing in the forest; tāpasāḥ = ascetics; dharmacāriṇaḥ = while carrying out dharma; vanasya = forest; tasya = in the; sañcāram = that their movement; rākṣasaiḥ = by the rākṣasas; samabhiplutam = was seriously disturbed.
While carrying out dharma, the ascetics residing in the forest told Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa that their movement in the forest was seriously disturbed by the rākṣasas.
“Movement in the forest” refers to moving about to fetch roots, fruits and so on.
