Chapter 83: Bharata Reaches Śṛṅgiberapura
Text 2.83.26

निवेश्य गङ्गामनु तां महानदीं चमूं विधानैः परिबर्हशोभिनीम्।
उवास रामस्य तदा महात्मनो विचिन्तयानो भरतो निवर्तनम्॥

niveśya gaṅgām anu tāṁ mahā-nadīṁ
camūṁ vidhānaiḥ paribarha-śobhinīm
uvāsa rāmasya tadā mahātmano
vicintayāno bharato nivartanam

niveśya = having halted; gaṅgām anu = near Gaṅgā; tām = it; mahā-nadīm = the great river; camūm = the army; vidhānaiḥ = and [equipped] with facilities to stay [en route]; paribarha-śobhinīm = was beautified with all necessities 8; uvāsa = stayed [there]; rāmasya = Rāmacandra; tadā = at night; mahā-ātmanaḥ = the great soul; vicintayānaḥ = while contemplating; bharataḥ = Bharata; nivartanam = the means of bringing back.

The army was beautified with the necessities and [equipped] with facilities to stay [en route]. Having halted it near the great river Gaṅgā, Bharata stayed [there] at night while contemplating the means of bringing back the great soul Rāmacandra.

Bharata had the army halt by the bank of Gaṅgā. The army was furnished with all necessities such as clothing appropriate to the journey.

[6] tannu-vāyas tu saucikaḥ (Amara).

[7] śailālinas tu śailūṣā jāyā-jīvāḥ (Amara).

[8] tathopakaraṇaṁ proktaṁ paribarhaḥ paricchadaḥ (Halāyudha).
