Chapter 7: Rāma Meets Sutīkṣṇa
Text 3.7.3
ततस्तदिक्ष्वाकुवरौ सन्ततं विविधैर्द्रुमैः।
काननं तौ विविशतुः सीतया सह राघवौ॥
tatas tad ikṣvāku-varau santataṁ vividhair drumaiḥ
kānanaṁ tau viviśatuḥ sītayā saha rāghavau
tataḥ = then; tat = that; ikṣvāku-varau = who were [also] excellent descendants of Ikṣvāku; santatam = which always; vividhaiḥ = of many kinds; drumaiḥ = had trees; kānanam = forest; tau viviśatuḥ = entered; sītayā = Sītā-devī; saha = along with; rāghavau = the two descendants of Raghu.
Along with Sītā-devī, the two descendants of Raghu who were [also] excellent descendants of Ikṣvāku, then entered that forest which always had trees of many kinds.
1 This indicates that They patiently walked through the forest which was densely filled with trees.
Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa were firmly rooted in patience.1 This is conveyed by the expression, “the two descendants of Raghu who were [also] excellent descendants of Ikṣvāku.
