Chapter 7: Rāma Meets Sutīkṣṇa
Text 3.7.12
धात्र्यास्तु वचनं श्रुत्वा कुब्जा क्षिप्रममर्षिता।
कैलासशिखराकारात्प्रासादादवरोहत॥
dhātryās tu vacanaṁ śrutvā kubjā kṣipram amarṣitā
kailāsa-śikharākārāt prāsādād avarohata
dhātryāḥ tu = of Rāma’s foster mother; vacanam = the words; śrutvā = upon hearing; kubjā = the hunchbacked Mantharā; kṣipram = immediately; amarṣitā = became angry; kailāsa-śikhara-ākārāt = that resembled the peak of Kailāsa; prāsādāt = from the palace; avarohata = she got down.
Upon hearing the words of Rāma’s foster mother, the hunchbacked Mantharā immediately became angry. She got down from the palace that resembled the peak of Kailāsa.
