Chapter 9: Sītā Requests Rāma to Give up His Weapons
Text 3.9.17
तस्यैव तपसो विघ्नं कर्तुमिन्द्रश्शचीपतिः।
खङ्गपाणिरथागच्छदाश्रमं भटरूपधृक्॥
tasyaiva tapaso vighnaṁ kartum indraḥ śacī-patiḥ
khaḍga-pāṇir athāgacchad āśramaṁ bhaṭa-rūpadhṛk
tasya eva = his; tapasaḥ = austerity; vighnam kartum = to obstruct; indraḥ = Indra; śacī-patiḥ = the husband of Śacī; khaḍga-pāṇiḥ = with a sword in hand; atha agacchat = went; āśramam = to [his] āśrama; bhaṭa-rūpadhṛk = in the form of a warrior.
To obstruct his austerity, Indra, the husband of Śacī, went to [his] āśrama in the form of a warrior with a sword in hand.
