Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 11: Rāma Goes to Agastya’s Āśrama
Text 3.11.96

आगताः स्माश्रमपदं सौमित्रे प्रविशाग्रतः।
निवेदयेह मां प्राप्तमृषये सीतया सह॥

āgatāḥ smāśrama-padaṁ saumitre praviśāgrataḥ
nivedayeha māṁ prāptam ṛṣaye sītayā saha

āgatāḥ sma = we have arrived; āśrama-padam = at the āśrama; saumitre = Lakṣmaṇa; praviśa = enter; agrataḥ = before [us]; nivedaya = inform; iha = here; mām = that I; prāptam = have come; ṛṣaye = the sage; sītayā = Sītā; saha = with.

Lakṣmaṇa, we have arrived at the āśrama. Enter before [us]. Inform the sage that I have come here with Sītā.

“With Sītā” indicates that Rāma was prepared to kill Rāvaṇa.1

1 The Seventh Canto of Śrī Rāmāyaṇa will inform us that Vedavatī had promised that she would appear as Sītā to destroy Rāvaṇa in her next life. So, Sītā-devī was nothing but Rāvaṇa’s death in disguise. This was known to the sages who could perceive the factual nature of Lord Rāmacandra and His associates. Therefore, Lord Rāma tells Śrī Lakṣmaṇa to inform the sage that He had come with Sītā.
