Chapter 12: Agastya Requests Rāma to Protect the Sages
Text 3.12.1
स प्रविश्याश्रमपदं लक्ष्मणो राघवानुजः।
अगस्त्यशिष्यमासाद्य वाक्यमेतदुवाच ह॥
sa praviśyāśrama-padaṁ lakṣmaṇo rāghavānujaḥ
agastya-śiṣyam āsādya vākyam etad uvāca ha
saḥ = the; praviśya = having; āśrama-padam = entered the region of the āśramas; lakṣmaṇaḥ = Lakṣmaṇa; rāghava-anujaḥ = younger brother of Rāghava; agastya-śiṣyam = a disciple of Agastya; āsādya = met and; vākyam = words; etat = the following; uvāca ha = spoke.
Having entered the region of the āśramas, Lakṣmaṇa, the younger brother of Rāghava, met a disciple of Agastya and spoke the following words.
