Chapter 12: Agastya Requests Rāma to Protect the Sages
Text 3.12.23
एवमुक्त्वा महाबाहुरगस्त्यं सूर्यवर्चसम्।
जग्राह परमप्रीतस्तस्य पादौ परंतपः॥
evam uktvā mahā-bāhur agastyaṁ sūrya-varcasam
jagrāha parama-prītas tasya pādau parantapaḥ
evam = thus; uktvā = having spoken; mahā-bāhuḥ = the mighty-armed; agastyam = about Agastya; sūrya-varcasam = who was as splendorous as the sun; jagrāha = clasped; parama-prītaḥ = in great happiness; tasya = his; pādau = feet; parantapaḥ = scorcher of enemies.
Having thus spoken about Agastya who was as splendorous as the sun, the mighty-armed scorcher of enemies clasped his feet in great happiness.
