Chapter 13: Rāma Departs for Pañcavaṭī
Text 3.13.17
विदितो ह्येष वृत्तान्तो मम सर्वस्तवानघ।
तपसश्च प्रभावेन स्नेहाद्दशरथस्य च॥
vidito hy eṣa vṛttānto mama sarvas tavānagha
tapasaś ca prabhāvena snehād daśarathasya ca
viditaḥ hi = is known; eṣaḥ = this; vṛttāntaḥ = incident; mama = to me; sarvaḥ = entire; tava = concerning You; anagha = O sinless one; tapasaḥ = of [my] austerity; ca = and; prabhāvena = by the power; snehāt = due to [my] affection; daśarathasya ca = for Daśaratha.
O sinless one, this entire incident concerning You is known to me by the power of [my] austerity and due to [my] affection for Daśaratha.
The sage used the powers of his austerity to investigate this incident because of his affection for Daśaratha.
