अत्यन्तसुखसंचारा मध्याह्ने स्पर्शतः सुखाः।
दिवसाः सुभगादित्याश्छायासलिलदुर्भगाः॥
atyanta-sukha-sañcārā madhyāhne sparśataḥ sukhāḥ
divasāḥ subhagādityāś chāyā-salila-durbhagāḥ
atyanta-sukha-sañcārāḥ = and so movement is extremely pleasant at that time; madhya-ahne = at midday; sparśataḥ = when [we] contact the heat; sukhāḥ = are happy; divasāḥ = the days; subhaga-ādityāḥ = during those days, being in the sunlight is pleasant; chāyā-salila-durbhagāḥ = and being in the shade or in the water is unpleasant.
The days are happy when [we] contact the heat at midday and so movement is extremely pleasant at that time. During those days, being in the sunlight is pleasant and being in the shade or in the water is unpleasant.
1 In summer, the sun cannot be seen directly with the naked eye because it is too hot and blazing then.
During those days [of winter], the sun can be [directly] seen.1 The shade and water are too cold.
There is a literary ornamentation here by describing the nature [of things].
