Chapter 16: Lakṣmaṇa’s Description of Winter
Text 3.16.17
खर्जूरपुष्पाकृतिभिः शिरोभिः पूर्णतण्डुलैः।
शोभन्ते किञ्चिदानम्राः शालयः कनकप्रभाः॥
kharjūra-puṣpākṛtibhiḥ śirobhiḥ pūrṇa-taṇḍulaiḥ
śobhante kiñcid-ānamrāḥ śālayaḥ kanaka-prabhāḥ
kharjūra-puṣpa-ākṛtibhiḥ = which resemble kharjūra flowers in their red complexion; śirobhiḥ = because their ears; pūrṇa-taṇḍulaiḥ = are filled with grains; śobhante = shine; kiñcit-ānamrāḥ = they are slightly bent; śālayaḥ = rice crops; kanaka-prabhāḥ = with a golden complexion.
Rice crops shine with a golden complexion. They are slightly bent because their ears which resemble kharjūra flowers in their red complexion are filled with grains.
