अग्राह्यवीर्यः पूर्वाह्णे मध्याह्ने स्पर्शतः सुखः।
संरक्तः किञ्चिदापाण्डुरातपः शोभते क्षितौ॥
agrāhya-vīryaḥ pūrvāhṇe madhyāhne sparśataḥ sukhaḥ
saṁraktaḥ kiñcid āpāṇḍurātapaḥ śobhate kṣitau
agrāhya-vīryaḥ = its heat cannot be grasped; pūrva-ahṇe = in the early morning; madhya-ahne = at midday; sparśataḥ sukhaḥ = which is pleasing to touch; saṁraktaḥ = red; kiñcit = the slightly; āpāṇḍura-ātapaḥ = and slightly pale sunlight; śobhate = shines; kṣitau = on the land.
In the early morning, its heat cannot be grasped.1 At midday, the slightly red and slightly pale sunlight, which is pleasing to touch, shines on the land.
1 Rāmāyaṇa-bhūṣaṇa: agrāhya-vīryaḥ . . . īṣad-arthe vā nañ, anudarā kanyetivat. tad uktam “tat-sādṛśyam abhāvaś ca tad-anyatvaṁ tad-alpatā / apraśāstyaṁ virodhaś ca nañ-arthāḥ ṣaṭ prakīrtitāḥ.”
In the early morning, the sunlight resembles the moonlight.
