Chapter 16: Lakṣmaṇa’s Description of Winter
Text 3.16.20
अवश्यायनिपातेन किञ्चित्प्रक्लिन्नशाद्वला।
वनानां शोभते भूमिर्निविष्टतरुणातपा॥
avaśyāya-nipātena kiñcit-praklinna-śādvalā
vanānāṁ śobhate bhūmir niviṣṭa-taruṇātapā
avaśyāya-nipātena = with snowfall; kiñcit-praklinna-śādvalā = with its abundant grass wet; vanānām = in the forests; śobhate = looks beautiful; bhūmiḥ = the land; niviṣṭa-taruṇa-ātapā = and with the entrance of tender sunlight.
The land in the forests, with its abundant grass wet with snowfall and with the entrance of tender sunlight, looks beautiful.1
