Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 22: Khara and Others Depart to kill Rāma
Text 3.22.26

pravṛddha-manyus tu kharaḥ khara-svano
ripor vadhārthaṁ tvarito yathāntakaḥ
acūcudat sārathim unnadan ghanaṁ
mahā-balo megha ivāśma-varṣavān

pravṛddha-manyuḥ tu = [since] his anger had increased; kharaḥ = Khara; khara-svanaḥ = made terrible sounds; ripoḥ = his enemy; vadha-artham = to kill; tvaritaḥ = he rushed; yathā-antakaḥ = like Yamarāja; acūcudat = by instructing [to drive forward]; sārathim = his charioteer; unnadan = while its loud sounds resounded; ghanam = through [another] cloud; mahā-balaḥ = propelled by a hurricane 3; meghaḥ = a cloud; iva = he looked; aśma-varṣavān = a cloud that showered stones.

Khara made terrible sounds [since] his anger had increased. Like Yamarāja, he rushed to kill his enemy by instructing his charioteer [to drive forward]. He looked like a cloud propelled by a hurricane, a cloud that showered stones while its loud sounds resounded through [another] cloud.

In some manuscripts, mahānilaḥ is found [instead of mahā-balaḥ without a significant change in meaning].
