Chapter 26: Rāmacandra Destroys Dūṣaṇa and his Followers
Text 3.26.29
रक्षसां तु शतं रामः शतेनैकेन कर्णिना।
सहस्रं च सहस्रेण जघान रणमूर्धनि॥
rakṣasāṁ tu śataṁ rāmaḥ śatenaikena karṇinā
sahasraṁ ca sahasreṇa jaghāna raṇa-mūrdhani
rakṣasām tu = rākṣasas; śatam = a hundred; rāmaḥ = Lord Rāma; śatena = hundred; ekena = with a; karṇinā = ear-shaped arrows; sahasram ca = [He killed] a thousand [rākṣasas]; sahasreṇa = with a thousand [such arrows]; jaghāna = killed; raṇa-mūrdhani = in the forefront of the battle.
With a hundred ear-shaped arrows, Lord Rāma killed a hundred rākṣasas. With a thousand [such arrows], [He killed] a thousand [rākṣasas] in the forefront of the battle.
