Chapter 26: Rāmacandra Destroys Dūṣaṇa and his Followers
Text 3.26.36

ततस्तु तद्भीमबलं महाहवे समीक्ष्य रामेण हतं बलीयसा।
रथेन रामं महता खरस्तदा समाससादेन्द्र इवोद्यताशनिः॥

tatas tu tad bhīma-balaṁ mahāhave
samīkṣya rāmeṇa hataṁ balīyasā
rathena rāmaṁ mahatā kharas tadā
samāsasādendra ivodyatāśaniḥ

tataḥ1 tu tat = the; bhīma-balam = terrible army; mahā-āhave = in a great war; samīkṣya = when noticed that; rāmeṇa = Rāma; hatam = had been destroyed; balīyasā = by powerful; rathena = chariot; rāmam = Rāma; mahatā = on a great; kharaḥ = Khara; tadā = at that time; samāsasāda = he approached; indraḥ = Indra [himself]; iva = Khara looked like; udyata-aśaniḥ = the thunderbolt-wielder.

When Khara noticed that the terrible army had been destroyed in a great war by powerful Rāma, he approached Rāma on a great chariot. At that time, Khara looked like the thunderbolt-wielder Indra [himself].
