Chapter 27: Rāma Kills Triśirā
Text 3.27.6
खरस्त्रिशिरसा तेन मृत्युलोभात्प्रसादितः।
गच्छ युध्येत्यनुज्ञातो राघवाभिमुखो ययौ॥
kharas triśirasā tena mṛtyu-lobhāt prasāditaḥ
gaccha yudhyety anujñāto rāghavābhimukho yayau
kharaḥ = Khara; triśirasā tena = by Triśirā; mṛtyu-lobhāt = to desist from falling prey to his greed for death; prasāditaḥ = was appeased; gaccha = go; yudhya iti = fight; anujñātaḥ = when Triśirā was permitted by Khara [with the words]; rāghava-abhimukhaḥ yayau = he went in front of Rāghava.
Khara was appeased by Triśirā to desist from falling prey to his greed for death.1 When Triśirā was permitted by Khara [with the words], “Go, fight!” he went in front of Rāghava.
1 Rāmāyaṇa-bhūṣaṇa: mṛtyu-lobhāt mṛtyunā kṛto lobho yuddha-lobhas tasmāt. prasāditaḥ nivartita iti yāvat.
