Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 29: Rāma Breaks Khara’s Mace
Text 3.29.14

प्रहर त्वं यथाकामं कुरु यत्नं कुलाधम।
अद्य ते पातयिष्यामि शिरस्तालफलं यथा॥

prahara tvaṁ yathā-kāmaṁ kuru yatnaṁ kulādhama
adya te pātayiṣyāmi śiras tāla-phalaṁ yathā

prahara tvam = attack; yathā-kāmam kuru yatnam = try your best; kula-adhama = O lowest of your dynasty; adya = today; te = your; pātayiṣyāmi = I will cause to fall down; śiraḥ = head; tāla-phalam = [it were a mere] tāla fruit; yathā = as if.

O lowest of your dynasty, attack! Try your best! Today I will cause your head to fall down as if [it were a mere] tāla fruit.

Tāla-phalaṁ yathā indicates that it would be very easy [for Rāmacandra to cause Khara’s head to fall off].1

1 Rāmāyaṇa-bhūṣaṇa: tāla-phalaṁ yathety anenānāyāsoktiḥ.
