Chapter 29: Rāma Breaks Khara’s Mace
Text 3.29.31
सा विकीर्णा शरैर्भग्ना पपात धरणीतले।
गदा मन्त्रौषधबलैर्व्यालीव विनिपातिता॥
sā vikīrṇā śarair bhagnā papāta dharaṇī-tale
gadā mantrauṣadha-balair vyālīva vinipātitā
sā = that; vikīrṇā = and [its broken pieces] scattered about; śaraiḥ = by the arrows; bhagnā = shattered; papāta = fell; dharaṇī-tale = on the ground; gadā = club; mantra-auṣadha-balaiḥ = by the force of mantras and herbs; vyālī = a female serpent; iva = like; vinipātitā = thrown down.
Shattered by the arrows and [its broken pieces] scattered about, that club fell on the ground like a female serpent thrown down by the force of mantras and herbs.
