Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 31: Rāvaṇa’s Conversation with Akampana and Mārīca
Text 3.31.13

स सुरेन्द्रेण संयुक्तो रामः सर्वामरैः सह।
उपयातो जनस्थानं ब्रूहि कच्चिदकम्पन॥

sa surendreṇa saṁyukto rāmaḥ sarvāmaraiḥ saha
upayāto janasthānaṁ brūhi kaccid akampana

saḥ = that; sura-indreṇa = with the king of the devas; saṁyuktaḥ = after joining hands; rāmaḥ = Rāma; sarva-amaraiḥ = all the immortals; saha = and; upayātaḥ = came; janasthānam = to Janasthāna; brūhi = tell [me]; kaccit = whether; akampana = Akampana.

Tell [me], Akampana, whether that Rāma came to Janasthāna after joining hands with the king of the devas and all the immortals.

Rāvaṇa implies, “Otherwise, it doesn’t seem right that He has such a capability [to kill all the rākṣasas in Janasthāna].”1

1 Rāvaṇa intends to tell Akampana, “If Rāma hadn’t joined hands with Indra and all the immortals, it wouldn’t be possible for Him to kill all the rākṣasas in Janasthāna.”
