Chapter 31: Rāvaṇa’s Conversation with Akampana and Mārīca
Text 3.31.39
एवमुक्तो मह-तेजा मारीचेन स रावणः।
ततः पश्चादिदं वाक्यमब्रवीद्वाक्यकोविदः॥
evam ukto mahā-tejā mārīcena sa rāvaṇaḥ
tataḥ paścād idaṁ vākyam abravīd vākya-kovidaḥ
evam = thus; uktaḥ = spoke; mahā-tejāḥ = who was greatly powerful; mārīcena = Mārīca; saḥ rāvaṇaḥ = Rāvaṇa; tataḥ paścāt = after; idam = the following; vākyam = words; abravīt = spoke; vākya-kovidaḥ = and expert in speech.
After Mārīca spoke thus, Rāvaṇa who was greatly powerful and expert in speech spoke the following words.
