Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 31: Rāvaṇa’s Conversation with Akampana and Mārīca
Text 3.31.43

रक्षोलोकस्य सर्वस्य कः शृङ्गं छेत्तुमिच्छति।
प्रोत्साहयति कश्चित्त्वां स च शत्रुरसंशयः॥

rakṣo-lokasya sarvasya kaḥ śṛṅgaṁ chettum icchati
protsāhayati kaścit tvāṁ sa ca śatrur asaṁśayaḥ

rakṣaḥ-lokasya = community of rākṣasas; sarvasya = of the entire; kaḥ = who; śṛṅgam = the chief 3; chettum = to pierce; icchati = wishes; protsāhayati = is instigating to bring Sītā; kaścit = someone; tvām = you; saḥ ca = he is certainly; śatruḥ = your enemy; asaṁśayaḥ = and undoubtedly.

Who wishes to pierce the chief of the entire community of rākṣasas? Someone is instigating you to bring Sītā. He is certainly and undoubtedly your enemy!

GLOSS. [The first half of the verse means:] “Who wishes to pierce the supremacy or superior excellence [of the entire community of rākṣasas]?”1

1 Rāmāyaṇa-bhāva-dīpa: śṛṅgaṁ prabhutvam utkarṣaṁ vā. “śṛṅga-prabhutve viṣāṇotkarṣayor api” iti viśvaḥ.
