Chapter 32: Śūrpaṇakhā Goes to Meet Rāvaṇa

देवगन्धर्वभूतानामृषीणां च महात्मनाम्।
अजेयं समरे शूरं व्यात्ताननमिवान्तकम्॥
deva-gandharva-bhūtānām ṛṣīṇāṁ ca mahātmanām
ajeyaṁ samare śūraṁ vyāttānanam ivāntakam
deva-gandharva-bhūtānām = by devas, gandharvas, evil spirits; ṛṣīṇām = ṛṣis; ca = as well as; mahā-ātmanām = greatly powerful; ajeyam = he was unconquerable; samare = in battle; śūram = that hero; vyātta-ānanam = with its mouth wide open; iva = resembled; antakam = death.
He was unconquerable in battle by devas, gandharvas, evil spirits as well as greatly powerful ṛṣis. That hero resembled death with its mouth wide open.
